World Wide Web is able to take great quantity information which can be accessed for anyone at any time they have internet connection. These characteristics of WWW make the tourist industry turn to use the huge benefit of such services. The wide use of internet in the 1990s has enhanced and change the way of doing the business in the tourism industry. Lately there are lots of web based tourist information system (TIS) have been established to serve there tourism industry, the main factor affected the TIS and prove its acceptance and success are the quantity and quality of data it provides. The use of information communication technology (ICT) has been the core of the way it has been structured in the last few years. WEB BASED TOURIST INFORMATION SYSTEM (WETIS) basically deals with a website design. This can be explained as a collection of E-pages, hosted on a web server and can be accessed through a domain. In the cobweb of internet, a website is identified and located within it domain name, also known as URL (universal resources allocation). An E-page consists of images, videos, contents and other forms of hypertext markup language (HTML). HTML makes a web page readable by a browser and also facilitates its uploading on internet browsers. However for a website to be effective and appealing needs of joint effort of the programmers, designers, contents writers, search engine optimizer's etc.

Services like tourism have to use the possibilities of modern advertising and data presentation, in particular these includes the WWW (World Wide Web). This platform brings it product and services directly to the customers. To place the information about a region and it tourist sites requires an exact definition of the elements in the intended information system.

When travelers plan their vacation, they will decide the places, event, and cities that they will visit during their vacation at a state, tourist finds it difficult to make plan worth and avoid any unpredictable inconvenience they need to reach information about the places that they are going to visit, and also in order  to arrange their time. One of the information that they need is information about the attraction sites in the place they will visit and how to reach these places. The detailed  existing system available deals a lot with paper work s such as documentations, books written by indigenes of the local government et c, which can be easily destroyed by pest and other factors or might easily be misplaced, taken away or tempered with regardless of the high cost of purchasing papers.

Most of the paper work is limited to users as tourist/users have to come to the local government to access some of these documents.
