For most applicants finding applications on the internet is just as important as being accepted for employment. Application forms are available online but cannot be submitted electronically. Once an application has been submitted (by hand) it is difficult to track the progress of the application especially when an applicant is not in a remote Area and thus cannot visit the Authorized office. This gave rise to the idea of introducing an online system for supervisor’s Placement so that a supervisor can use a Personal Computer (PC) or a cell phone to access the system and keep track of the progress of the process. Most job in the world post application forms  on  their  websites  which applicants can download;  complete  and  send  to the  organization  for processing.  Some West Africa universities  also  have  a Web-based application system.

The current trends system allows applicants to select an applications from a list of applications and apply by submitting a completed form. The management  then faces  the  daunting and  tedious  task of processing all these written applications in order  to allocate supervision  to the prospective supervisors. This makes the whole process very complex and the confirmation of application is often not made timeously.  Supervision Placement lists are posted on a notice board and applicants only know if they have been allocated a school/Centre/Station once their name appears on the list.


With the advances in electronic data processing in the world generally, job placement must brace up to providing quality and Standard supervision placement process mechanism. Deficiencies or lapses in supervisor’s placement systems provide the easies means to accountability, hence the need to work out an effective means of processing program solution for use on personal computer systems for the placement of supervisors to various work station.

Thus the research was able to identify problems with the existing system as follows: -

i.        It takes vulnerable time for organizations to finish processing and placement of staffs/supervisors.

ii.       It is very difficult and time consuming to replace or repost a particular supervisor in the case of emergencies.

iii.      Has a result of the manual system most organizations employed, they end up placing one staff to two different location.

iv.      The placement is sometimes influenced by staffs with upper hands in the organization in most cases.

v.       There is delay and error in the process of supervisor’s placement in most of the organizations.

vi.      There used to be some sense of insecurity in the mode of placement slips collection.

vii.     There is the problem of storage space in placement office as more and more records are brought to the office every day.

viii.    Due to the manual system the placement office operates, they end up giving placement slips, that they don’t have the stations for such Staffs.

          All these problems are what make the researcher to embark on this research project, to design a web-based application for placement of supervisors that will be solutions to the problems in the placement Office of any organization.



The primary objectives of the research project are to design a web based program, which would assist placement Office in the processing and supervisors placement to various stations.

          The objective for embarking on this project work is to find solution to the problems facing Placement Office, West Africa Examination Council “WAEC” in their Supervisor’s Placement to various schools for supervision system processes: -

i.        To develop a web site which would help speed up the Placement processing and placing system process.

ii.       To ensure that those who have the greatest priority for Placement have the opportunity to secure it.

iii.      To provide high storage capacity

iv.      To eliminate duplication of data and hence improve integrity of data

v.       To provide adequate security for data

vi.      To facilitates easy retrieval of stored data

vii.     To allow generation of Placement slip by an administrative user over the internet.

viii.    To be able to produce a number of supervisors per station at any point in time.

ix.      To deal with unforeseen problems that arises anytime.
